The ZAGIMUN 2007 conference will be held in the beautiful old part of the city of Zagreb, also known as the Upper Town, which includes most of the oldest parts of the city and many of its main sights. Our base will be the building of the Old City Hall, in Ćirilometodska Street 5, just minutes away from The Croatian Parliament, the Cathedral, as well as the popular pedestrian café street Tkalčićeva.
The Old City Hall building, the seat of the city administration in medieval times, has gone through a number of alteration and reconstruction phases. Being used as a theatre building, it played a significant role in the Croatian national awakening in the 19th Century. It is at this address that the first Croatian opera «Ljubav i zloba», written by Vatroslav Lisinski, was first performed. Today it still keeps its doors open for the meetings of the Zagreb City Council.
The venue of the ZAGIMUN 2007 opening ceremony, as well as that of the committee workshops, will therefore be an opportunity for our delegates to spend time at the places where Croatia’s history was once made.
